It was a case of pushing party politics to the side when a hamper is up for grabs, as this week, Fine Gael TD Tom Barry presented a hamper from the Fine Gael national draw to former Fianna Fail politician, Ned O'Keeffe.

Speaking to The Avondhu, TD Tom Barry said that everyone is entitled to buy a ticket and he was delighted to see Ned win a hamper, as they would all try to support fundraisers in any way they can.

"Myself and Ned have always been friendly and so were our fathers. I would do the same for them and buy a ticket for a draw," Deputy Barry said.

Ned said that he would always buy a ticket for this draw and that it's something he would never say no to, as he believes that political parties should be funded from money from the private sector, as opposed to putting another burden on the State. He added that Fine Gael representatives would always support the Fianna Fail fundraisers as well, so it goes both ways.

Ned explained that this year, the Fianna Fail's fundraising in this constituency is up 30% on what it was last year and that is something they are very proud of.
