Bluegrass music is back in Kilworth on Monday, 30th September when Down the Road, a duo from Nashville Tennessee, playing a tribute to the music of Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, take to the stage of The Village Arts Centre.

The band features Jeff Burke on guitar, mandolin and vocals and Josh McMurray on banjo and vocals. They will be playing all the hits of Flatt and Scruggs like 'Foggy Mountain Breakdown', 'The Ballad of Jed Clampet' which is the theme song for the TV show 'The Beverly Hillbillies' and 'Roll In My Sweet Baby's Arms', to mention but a few.

This will be a two-group session with Jacobs Ladder, an exciting six piece, accapelle/unaccompainied Gospel group. With members from counties Cork and Limerick, their songs come from the Southern Baptist tradition of the southern states of the US - songs which are akin to Bluegrass Gospel.

They have performed at festivals around Ireland but locally, they gave a five star performance at the Ballyhooly Arts Festival where they were a huge hit.

So, with Down the Road playing the classic bluegrass of Flatt and Scruggs and Jacobs Ladder's Gospel programme, it promises to be another sterling night at the Village Arts Centre.

Booking is now open with tickets (just €15) available from John on 087-7921771, from the usual Arts Centre outlets or from 025-32227 or 087-6492514.
