Two plays, the proceeds of which will go to the Fermoy Community Hospital fund, will be staged in Conna Hall on Wednesday night next, Nov 26 at 8.15pm. Ann Ahern has kindly agreed to bring her play ‘Kids’ to Conna, ahead of it being performed at the one-act festival in Castlelyons.

‘Kids’ is a play about childhood set in a playground. The characters range in age from six months to nine years and are all played by adults. The play takes a humorous yet, poignant look at the impact of the adult world on the development of children. There are many funny and thought provoking moments throughout the play, the character of the baby certainly gives us plenty food for thought.

The cast includes Mary Barry as the baby, Maurice Carrol as Johnny, Mark O’Flynn as Sammy, Fiona O’Brien as Wendy and Eilish Manley as Ellie, the playground bully. The play is directed by Ann Ahern, assisted by Pat Fenton.

‘THE WHOLE SHEBANG’

Next up is ‘The Whole Shebang’, directed Brendan Hurley. This play will let us in to Marge’s secret. Marge is in charge of a one-act play competition and she proceeds to tell us why she is sedated and kept in a strait jacket – hilarious results! This a mix of young and old in the cast and includes Ann Hurley, Aoife Hurley, Mary O’Connor, Helen Bennett, John Finn, Hannah Munier, Ellen Byrne, Laura Hayes and Tony Curtin.

SUPPORT

Readers are asked to come out and support this worthy fundraiser as there is scarcely a person living in the area who has not had a realtive or family member in Fermoy Community Hospital at one time or another. Tickets avaialble at the door!
