Every year, the Watergrasshill Community Association pick a project to focus on and raise funds for and last Saturday, their hard work paid off, as they installed three dog fouling bins around the village.

Treasurer of the community association, Paddy O’Sullivan explained that there are a lot of dog walkers in the village and that people were walking or running through areas where dog fouling was prominent and the problem was being brought into the local businesses.

He added that dog fouling also presents a serious health risk to small children who could contract disease from coming in contact with dog faeces.

The bins are lined and will be emptied regularly and if dog owners do not have small bags to clean up after their own dogs, there will be bags available in the local shops.

The community association are urging dog owners to avail of the bins, which are placed at three different locations in the village where walking and running is popular and to help to rid Watergrasshill of this problem.
