Waterford City and County Council has undertaken an online campaign to put the spotlight on dog fouling, and to remind dog owners of their responsibilities when it comes to dealing with their pet’s waste in public spaces.

Despite considerable efforts on the part of both councillors and Council officials, dog fouling is a problem that continues to plague towns and villages across County Waterford.

In a statement, the Council called on owners to firstly not allow their dogs to foul a public place, but if it happened, to ‘collect and dispose of the faeces in a suitable, sanitary manner so that the public is protected from this nuisance’.

“It is as easy as taking a bag with you every time you walk your dog in a public place,” a spokesperson for the Council commented.
