DMSSG, the concerned Dairygold milk suppliers’ group continue their campaign with Dairygold regarding expansion plans and the cost to farmers.

They stress that ‘there is only ever going to be one dryer needed in Mallow, making the point that only €20m should be spent on it ‘as was done in Baileboro’ and make a saving of €85m.

Failing that, they suggest that at the very least, the company should only spend €37m, the money earmarked for dryer 2, ‘saving €68m’. They further claim that there is no need for all the deductions from milk suppliers’ accounts “as 105m for the Mallow development is not needed”.

THE FARM ORGANISATION

DMSSG also take on the IFA and ICMSA regarding the group’s call for independent milk testing (IMT), saying it was “a disgrace that the farmer representative bodies did not come out, when challenged to do so prior to the SGM, and confirm if they were in support of IMT”.

They say many farmers have become ‘disillusioned’ with their farm organisations, that leadership is ‘seriously lacking’ and that all they are worried about is ‘getting elected as against looking after farmers’ interests.’
