Members of Lismore Town Council welcomed the news this week that the Deise Link rural transport service is to resume full service to Lismore.

At their previous meeting they’d been advised that the service was being curtailed as a result of reduced funding. It meant the cancellation of the Wednesday service and a reduction in the number of services operating on Fridays and Saturdays between Lismore and Dungarvan.

Cllr Jan Rotte thanked Deise Link for reconsidering their service provision for Lismore. The meeting heard that the Board of the rural transport company is seeking support in lobbying for funding to continue the service next year and he proposed that they support their efforts.

Their funding is in place only until June 30 and the situation beyond that remains unclear. That was seconded by Mayor Julie Landers and it was agreed to write a letter in support of their application for funding.
