'Fiercely serious and bruisingly hilarious' is how The New York Times described Des Keogh's interpretation of 'The Love-Hungry Farmer' from the pen of John B Keane. The good news is that it comes to The Village Arts Centre (Kilworth) on Saturday, April 5 and tickets have just been put on sale.

'The Love-Hungry Farmer' tells the story of John Bosco McLaine, a bachelor of ‘indeterminate’ age and according to his own assessment, ‘past his best’ and evidently still a virgin. McLane’s amorous adventures range from the hilarious to the pitiful.

In 2013 The Love-Hungry Farmer played two sell-out seasons at the Gaiety Theatre Dublin and made its first appearance at the new Lyric Theatre in Belfast. In 2014 it will return to Northern Ireland and play the Grand Opera House in Belfast and will also visit Derry and Armagh. The show will also play some select dates in the Republic of Ireland including Kilworth on Saturday, April 5.

Early booking is strongly advised - tickets €18/16 at the usual outlets - The Avondhu office, Fermoy (025-32227); Cotter's Kilworth 025-27109 (after 5pm); Hyland's Bookshop, Mitchelstown (025-27109  or call  087-6492514.
