The official launch of blossoming Cork singer and songwriter, Josie Harrington’s magical debut solo album ‘The Red Road’, takes place this Friday evening, November 28th at 8.30pm in the Crane Lane Theatre, Phoenix Street, Cork.
Originally from Blarney in Co. Cork, Josie comes from a very musical family and began playing the piano and button accordion from an early age. The self-taught guitarist took her first tentative steps into songwriting as a teenager, composing across a number of genres.
This diverse musical base is reflected in ‘The Red Road’, which showcases Josie’s original sound and style, and her unique ability and versatility to step outside genre stereotyping. Each of the magical songs on the new album have been carefully crafted, composed and produced by Josie herself.
Well-known within the Irish music scene, Josie regularly performs live and has appeared across a number of high profile television and radio programmes including TG4’s Greantraí & Féilte and RTE’s You’re A Star, Fleadh Ceoil. Her stunning voice has also guested on different albums not least, Patricia Clark’s CD, ‘The Lark’s March’.
The multi-talented young Cork musician is a firm favourite with audiences on the festival scene and over the years has supported major national and international acts like The Hothouse flowers, Mundy, Liam Ó Maonlaí, Guidewires and Flook.
The launch of ‘The Red Road’ this week marks a groundbreaking first step on a journey that will bring her to an even wider international audience – watch out for this unique songstress who continues to enthrall.
