South Tipperary Cycling Club members were in the company of a legend recently, as former world number 1 cyclist Sean Kelly took a trip to Clogheen to officially launch the club in The Hermitage.

The club was formed in August 2012 by a small group of cycling enthusiasts who wanted to promote the sport in their own local area, following the success of a number of local charity cycles.

The success of the Colaiste Dun Iascaigh first annual cycle proved the extent of people's interest in the sport and since the founding members - Bernard Lonergan, Martin Kennedy and John Byrne - have set the club up, it has gone from strength to strength and now boasts 60 members.

Anyone interested in joining the club can contact the club secretary on 086 2714994, e-mail info@southtippcycling.com or visit www.southtippcyclingclub.com
