When children think of ambulances and paramedics, they think of sirens and someone waiting for help. Recently, paramedics visited Curraghagalla National School to give them a privileged peek into what a day in the life of a paramedic is like.

Paramedics Paudie O'Connor and Matthew Bermingham gave the students an insight into their varied working day, with a very interesting and informative talk. They spoke on how there is no 'typical' day when they go into work and even though two calls might seem similar, no two are ever the same.

The two men explained how their shift begins with a vehicle and equipment check to make sure everything is in order and before their shift finishes, they would have attended to a number of different situations and emergencies.

Pupils going from junior infants right up to 6th class were all very excited to see the inside of an ambulance for the first time and see how all of the different equipment works.

The staff at Curraghagalla NS would like to thank Paudie and Matthew for taking time out of their busy schedules to come to the school, as all of the students learned a lot from the visit.
