Fermoy's birdman, Christy Dorgan's lecture tour took him to Fermoy Community Youth Centre last week where he addressed members of Fermoy & District Active Retirement Association.

Local man Christy, got a great welcome before presenting a very informative slide show which featured some stunning drawings of birds, bears, whales, scenes from Killarney National Park and other well known landmarks. His running commentary and lively anecdotes went down well with this very active voluntary group, whose forthcoming activities includes concerts, shows and day trips. David White assisted Christy with the visual part of the presentation.

One of the town's great collectors, Christy draws much of his inspiration from an extensive rare book collection which has provided the bulk of illustrations for his best selling publication 'Irish Birds - Their Nests & Eggs', which has been accepted by, and is now being sold at, the Trinity College Dublin tourist shop.

During the course of his lecture, Christy sang the praises of Fermoy antique shop 'Magpies' which has provided him with some very rare collectibles.
Describing the guest speaker, as one of their own, association chairman, John O'Mahony thanked Christy for his presentation which was enjoyed by all.
