Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Simon Coveney, is to address a public meeting on Brexit in Fermoy on Monday week, September 10.
The meeting has been organised by Fine Gael candidate for the next General Election in Cork East, Pa O'Driscoll.
Speaking to The Avondhu, Pa O'Driscoll said the meeting is an opportunity for anyone interested in the Irish perspective on Brexit, to hear directly from our lead negotiator.
"Minister Coveney will be addressing the public meeting on developments in the Brexit negotiations, as well as fielding questions from the public in attendance," he said.
"The Brexit negotiations are at an important position at the moment. The declaration by Theresa May this week that a no deal Brexit would not be that bad for the United Kingdom shows that our neighbours are capable of leaving the European Union without consideration for the impact on their economy and our economy".
Mr O'Driscoll went on to tell The Avondhu that he was delighted to be able to hold a public meeting on the issue and have Simon Coveney in attendance.
"Anyone who is interested, from all political parties or none; from an agricultural or business background; or with a general interest in the future of our country is more than welcome to attend," he said.
The public meeting is to take place in the Fermoy Youth Centre at 8pm on Monday, September 10.
Pa O'Driscoll can be contacted on 086-8113109 or paodriscoll@gmail.com for any further information on the public meeting.
