Drainage works on the Courthouse Road in Fermoy are nearly finished, thankfully without the major disruption and congestion that was initially envisaged when traffic on the busy N72 artery into the town was reduced to one lane to facilitate the work. Instead, motorists have experienced a wait of only a few minutes even at peak times, thanks to the efficient use of the stop/go system.

Gully connection work were due to start this week with the majority of the work being carried out during late evening and night-time to minimise disruption. The water main works from Toss Bryan’s premises to the community hospital are on-going. Drainage works will then be carried out in the vicinity of the entrance to the waste water treatment works.

It will be on to Richmond Hill after that to do another section of water main, from there to the courthouse. The contractor and Office of Public Works have advised Fermoy Town Council that the works are expected to be completely finished within the next five weeks.
