Lovers of country and Irish music were treated to a brilliant concert in The Firgrove Hotel, Mitchelstown last Monday night. Backed by the internationally acclaimed Ryan Turner Band, performer after performer turned in superb performances which kept a capacity crowd enthralled for almost 3 hours.
John Hogan kicked off the pre New Year concert and there was no let up in the tempo until Bansha lass, Louise Morrissey brought the curtain down. The star-studded line up also included: Patrick Feeney, Paddy O’Brien, Mick Flavin, TR Dallas along with talented newcomer, Vicky Kenny.

MC for the occasion was Tim Coughlan of C103. Tim gave all the acts a great build up and speaking after the show, he observed that it was as good a show as you would see anywhere.
“We had the cream of the crop on stage here tonight and everyone knew it, the crowd were treated to the very best in country music and I was delighted to be part of it” he said.
During the interval people had a chance to stretch their legs and pay a visit to the bar. There was also a raffle with proceeds going to St. Vincent de Paul.
Following the show there was a meet and greet session with the stars. Speaking on behalf of her fellow entertainers, Louise Morrissey thanked the hotel, its staff and the hugely appreciative crowd. “Country and Irish music is alive and well and events like tonight prove it” she said.

Proprietor of The Firgrove Hotel, Pat Tangney, intends following up last Monday’s extravaganza with another big night on Saturday night next (4th January) to celebrate Women’s Little Christmas – meal, band and disco for just €20. Regarding The Firgrove Hotel’s association with live music, it must be said that 2013 has been an unqualified success and the good news, is that patrons can look forward to more of the same for the coming year.
