Houses in a number of different local authority estates in Fermoy, Mitchelstown and outlying villages, are to have their insulation upgraded by Cork County Council in the first phase of a scheme for such works.

78 houses in total will be done, including, in Mitchelstown: five in Roche's Heights, 14 in Linden Hill, nine in Mulberry, eight in Sarsfield Casey Drive, two in Fanhan's Court, Stag Park, and one each in Liam Lynch Park, Moher Crescent and Ard Mhuilinn.

21 houses are being done in Liam McGerailt Place in Fermoy, and one each in Rathcarrig, St Joseph's Square, Baile Ard, Cluain Ard and Ballinahina. Single houses in Boherash and String, Glanworth and Downing North and Elm Place in Kilworth are also included as are houses in Liam Burke Terrace, Ballyhooly and Ballyhampshire and Rathcormac Lane in Castlelyons and The Sycamores in Conna.

Members were given details of the scheme at the monthly meeting on Monday of the Northern area committee of the County Council. Cllr Noel McCarthy welcomed the announcement, made during the housing report, saying it was a good scheme of works that would be of benefit to those householders and he hoped a similar amount would be allocated next year.
