Council ‘assessing options’ re riverbank erosion at Barnane

Queries have arisen regarding the condition of Barnane Walk in Fermoy, as a portion of the riverbank, located just off the path, remains cordoned off.

A Cork County Council spokesperson has confirmed that there is a localised area of erosion at this location, which has been cordoned off to prevent access, however, the Barnane Walkway itself is ‘fully open’.

“Cork County Council are currently assessing options for potential works to this area of the riverbank noting that this is an SAC and any future works there will require significant environmental assessment,” the spokesperson said.
