As we just about sneak into the month of October, the evenings are drawing in, colder and wetter weather ensures that we in Corrin Mart are busy with large numbers of cattle being offered for sale.
This week in Corrin, the larger numbers of cattle was matched by an increase of buyers around the ring. This ensured a very lively trade on Tuesday for all cattle with an extremely strong trade for store cattle.
COWS
Similar trade to last week for dry cows.
Store cows: 400 to 550kgs making from €1.30 per kilo to €1.76 per kilo.
Heavier cows: 550kgs+ making from €1.65 per kilo up to €2.15 per kilo.
Limousin 706kg €1,520; Friesians 710kg €1,260; Friesians 655kg €1,150.
BULLOCKS
Larger numbers on offer again this week. Very strong trade for all bullocks.
Light stores: under 350kgs made from €1.58 per kilo for plain Friesians up to €2.52 for continental bullocks. With AA/Hereford types making from €2.04 per kilo up to €2.32 per kilo.
Medium stores: 350kgs to 500kgs starting at €1.70 for Friesians up to €2.70 per kilo for Continentals. AA/Hereford bullocks made from €2.05 up to €2.35 per kilo.
Fwd. stores: 500 to 600kgs. The plainer Friesian started at €1.82 per kilo up to €2.48 per kilo.
Heavy bullocks: 600kgs+. Good demand for heavy bullocks making from €2.00 up to €2.25 per kilo.
Charolais 402kgs €1,080; AA 565kgs €1,350; AA 510kgs €1,160; Hereford 290kgs €670; Friesian 360kgs €730.
HEIFERS
Very lively trade for heifers again this week.
Store heifers: under 400kgs made from €2.00 up to €2.43 per kilo. AA/Hereford averaged at €2.04 per kilo.
Butchers heifers: 400kgs+. These type heifers made from €2.04 up to €2.45 per kilo, with AA/Hereford averaging at €2.08 per kilo.
Limousin 430kgs €1,030; AA 465kgs €1,125; AA 545kgs €1,240; Hereford 492kgs €1,130.
WEANLING SALE
We had an extremely lively trade for weanlings this week. Super demand for both bulls and heifers. Our next weanling sale is Thursday, October 7.
