Fermoy’s Hayden Supple, and Owen Daly from Ballydesmond, recently won the doubles U16 Munster Handball Championship, with a comprehensive victory over their opponents from Clare.

The boys, representing Cork, played the Munster Final last weekend in Ballydesmond in front of a packed gallery.

Hayden and Owen started strongly, and they controlled the first game throughout, winning 21-5.

Dominant

The pair maintained this dominant display into the second game, and while the Clare duo fared somewhat better, Hayden and Owen closed out that game 21-8.

The Cork boys will now progress to the All Ireland semi final, where they will face off against the Connacht champions. The contest is slated to be played in two weeks’ time.

Serious schedule

The rigours and standards of the competition has meant that Hayden has committed to a serious training schedule, putting in the hours with his Dad and coach.

The Fermoy local has also been travelling to Mallow and Ballydesmond to train with his handball partner Owen Daly as they prepare for the upcoming national semi finals.
