Two sell out performances by choir, Cór Geal, in Corrin Event Centre last weekend illustrates the popularity of the Whitechurch based group.

Set up in 2009, Cór Geal currently has 48 members drawn from a catchment that includes: Whitechurch, Watergrasshill, Blarney and Grenagh. Their chairperson is Deirdre O'Mahony, secretary is Catherine Meehan and the responsibility of treasurer is with Denis O'Brien. According to group PRO, D.J. Kelleher, the choir have raised almost €30,000 for good causes since they were founded 4 years ago.

Audiences were treated to some outstanding performances last Saturday and Sunday night, most notably, Teresa Herlihy's interpretation of 'I Dreamt I Dwelt In Marble Halls', 'I Dreamed A Dream' by Deirdre O'Mahony, 'The Flight Of The Bumble Bee' by Meabh Fitzgerald on piano and a light-hearted take on Paul Young's 1980s classic, 'Wherever I Lay My Hat' (featuring Michael Ryan and Sean Kelleher of The Blue Hat Drama Group).

A number of organisations and clubs benefited from the concerts, namely, Scoil Mhairtin, Cill Uird (St. Martin's National School, Kilworth).

Stage manager for the two nights was Caroline Foley with John Pat Murphy looking after sound and lighting. The choir are grateful to the appreciative audiences who attended and to their many sponsors who continue to give so generously.
