It won awards across the full spectrum, both in acting and tehnical - 'best play', 'best actor/actress', 'best supporting actor/actress', 'best producer', 'best lighting' and 'best set' from seven of the eight festivals at which it was entered.

Tom Murphy's great comedy, 'Conversations On A Homecoming' promises a great night's theatre when The Palace Players return to The Village Arts Centre for five more performances prior to their All-Ireland final appearance in Athlone on May 7. The Kilworth dates are Wednesday and Thursday April 29/30 and Friday, Monday and Tuesday, May 1, 4 and 5.

One can see why this play has made it through to Athlone by virtue of the excellent casting that includes Brendan Dunlea and Brian Hogan as old friends Tom and Michael respectively; Michelle Hurley as Peggy - Tom's fiance all of ten years standing; Mary Flavin and Fiona Clifford as Missus and Anne - mother and daughter who operate the run down pub, The White House; Sean Ahern as Liam - the undertaker, rate collector, Sunday night dance promoter and more recently, auctioneer; and finally, Danny Buckley who plays Junior, the mild-mannered wit, jovial mechanic and husband to Gloria!

Be prepared to be entertained, challenged a little perhaps while at the same time having a good laugh when the play returns on Wednesday, April 29 for a five night run in Kilworth.

8.15pm nightly - tickets €12/10, now on sale at The Avondhu office, Fermoy (025-32227); Cotter's Bar, Kilworth (025-27109 after 5pm); Hyland's Bookshop, Mitchelstown (025-24528) or call 087-6492514.
