Two very deserving causes have benefited following the effort and hard work put in by ConnaBride Vintage Club and their supporters.

The annual vintage display and rally which took place in Dan Gallagher's field on Sunday, June 15, is fortunate to have a very dedicated committee who weren't found wanting when it came to selling tickets for a fundraising draw.

All proceeds are going to Dunmanway Day Care Unit in Cork University Hospital and Conna Sports Field which is a valuable amenity for locals.

The vintage fraternity were out in force last Sunday with tractors, cars and motorcycles all featuring prominently. A steam engine, old time thresher and a variety of stationary engines made up the displays.

Children were admitted free and there was plenty in the line of amusements and sideshows to keep them entertained. Mick and Aidan Hayes provided music with their selection of tunes going down very well.

Tug of war teams have been very loyal to the vintage rally over the years and they didn't leave the side down last Sunday. There was also a good selection of dogs entered in the dog show and some well contested races ensued in the terrier racing.

BIG VOLUNTARY EFFORT

Events like last Sunday require a major voluntary effort and the organising committee are very grateful to everyone who gave up their time to assist. Sponsors also play an important role in the vintage rally (which includes a tractor run) and this financial backing is very much appreciated.
