On Friday evening last, Conna Nursing and Convalescent Home hosted a special celebration to mark 10 years in existence.

Over that decade it has earned a reputation for providing an outstanding level of care to residents. According to the home's managing director, Pat Beecher, attaining and maintaining such high standards was due almost exclusively to the commitment of its 70 strong workforce under the stewardship of director of care, Marian Prendergast.

Mr Beecher went on to make presentations to members of staff who have been at the home since it opened - they included: Mary Barry, Brigid Cotter, Allison Daynes, Gobnait Hegarty, Fidelma Hartnett, Christine Hopkins, Anne Noonan and head chef, Emma Cogan - Marian along with husband, Anthony were also honoured.

In her address, Marian thanked Pat for his kind words before congratulating the award recipients, she went on to say that the primary focus of staff was always on the care and comfort of residents. As well as the hard working employees, Marian paid tribute to her family, husband, Anthony and daughters, Nina and Fiona for their unstinting support.

With formalities complete those present were treated to refreshments courtesy of Bite Size Catering - music and singing followed.

A most enjoyable evening ensued as management, staff, residents and their relatives celebrated what have been 10 very successful and rewarding years for everyone associated with Conna Nursing and Convalescent Home.
