Conna Dramatic Society travelled with two plays to nearby Castlelyons over the weekend to partake in the festival there and practically swept the boards when it came to awards.
‘A Little Box Of Oblivion’, directed by Ann Barry, took first prize and was awarded the Billy Leahy Perpetual Cup for ‘best play’. Ronan Bennett took the ‘best actor’ award while his mum, Helen Bennett took ‘best actress’ – a very proud achievement for the Bennett family while Mary O’Connor took ‘best first-time stage performance’.
The second play, ‘Why I Am A Bachelor’ under the direction of Brendan Hurley, won Brendan ‘best first time producer’ while Andrew England took ‘best supporting actor’ and the ‘best youth award’ went to Doireann Gough.
So a very fruitful weekend for all concerned with Conna Dramatic Society. Well done!
