With only one pub in Fermoy having a late licence for St Stephen’s night, a concern that people may congregate in the centre of town leading to anti-social behaviour was raised at the recent meeting of the Joint Policing Committee.
The matter was raised by local publican, Nuala Fitzgibbon. She was assured by Garda Superintendent Michael Comyns that extra gardai would be on duty that night. The superintendent said that, overall, Fermoy has a good record in relation to such behaviour on St Stephen’s night.
