As the date for the An Post Ras is fast approaching, the Mitchelstown Tidy Towns Group, AROMA are hosting a community clean up night, so that Mitchelstown will look its best for the massive cycling event.

The clean up will take place on Tuesday next, May 21, meeting in the Square and people are asked to bring gloves and sweeping brushes, as refuse bags will be provided.

Kay Dawson told The Avondhu that this will give them the opportunity to present Mitchelstown at its best and she urges anyone who can to get involved.

She added that it is all about having pride in our place and making sure that the people who pass through for the Ras will want to return.

Kay said that business people should also make a concerted effort to clean up outside their own premises and if anyone cannot join in the community effort on Tuesday night, they are urged to do what they can to make the town tidier and present it at its best for Thursday and Friday.
