The trail that leads up to the Lough Curra stile, located in the Glen of Aherlow, has received a makeover this year, thanks to the hard work of volunteers from Mountain Meitheal South East.

Last year a survey was done on the trail that had become very eroded and muddy over the last number of years. A work plan was then submitted to the owners of the land, Coillte and this was approved by Mary O'Brien, the Coillte recreation manager for the south east. Work started in May this year.

Following five hard days working on the trail by volunteers, it has been transformed into a forest trail that will last long into the future. This project follows on from the 180 metres of trail at Saunder’s Lodge in Glencush, which our volunteers completed last year.

“We still have three days of "giving back" if anyone is interested in coming out and seeing what we do," said Jimmy Barry.

We are looking at two more projects for next year and if anyone or a group want to talk to us, or if we can be of help in any wa,y have a look at our Facebook page ‘Mountain Meitheal South East’ - you can also log on to www.pathsavers.org
