Bluegrass fans are keenly looking forward to the first Bluegrass concert in Kilworth for 2014. And what a night it will be - a great double act on Monday, January 20 the Colorado-based High Plains Tradition will share the stage with Martin Gilmore, a hugely popular singer/guitarist. Gilmore is lead singer with Long Road Home, a Bluegrass band that also features Peter Wernick (Dr Banjo).

Travelling solo on this occasion and with stories to sing and tunes to play, Gilmore’s stellar musicianship, engaging stage presence and passion for performance, combines to make his shows really stand out.

High Plains brings us Kenny Pabst (bass) and Doug Elrick (mandolin) who got together all of 26 years ago to play the music they love. They will be joined by Ron Lynam (one of the most acomplished banjo players in the West), Steve Gilmore (guitar/vocals) and Bobby Vickery (fiddle and vocals).

See them at The Village Arts Centre on January 20. Tickets are €20 (the perfect stocking-filler) are now on sale at The Avondhu office in Fermoy (025-32227). More from 087-6492514 or from John on 087-7921771.
