The TY boys at St Colman’s College, Fermoy are ready to record a charity single for their friend and classmate who was recently diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment at Crumlin Children’s Hospital.
With the help of their music teacher Sarah Barry, the students will record ‘Lean On Me’ by Bill Withers, next Wednesday, November 28 to raise funds for Crumlin Children’s Hospital, the Ronald McDonald House and for the student and his family.
The project is already supported by a huge number of high profile people in sport, music and the media, many of whom will be present on the recording day next Wednesday.
A music video will also be made and the song will be officially launched at the school awards night on November 6.
The aim is to raise as much funds as possible from the charity single and the school will be pushing the CD on all platforms – social media, newspaper, radio and TV.
The slogan for the single is #colmansstandtogether and the students and staff are appealing to all members of the locality to assist in the promotion of the single by sharing a photo of themselves holding the banner and the slogan.
There will be more information in the coming weeks on how to promote this single and aim to make it the Irish Christmas Number 1.
