Next week, at the Fermoy Electoral Area Committee meeting in Mitchelstown, Cllr Frank O’Flynn will table a motion to have traffic calming measures put in place on the Brigown Road approaching the entrances to the CBS Primary and Secondary schools.

He is calling for advanced signage to make people aware that there is a school there and also ramps to make the area safer for children, parents and road users.

“A lot of people don’t realise there is a school there and sometimes they increase their speed when they see the lights change and there could be children walking out of the entrance,” he said.
