Clerical changes in Cloyne Diocese

Bishop of Cloyne, Most Rev William Crean, has accepted the resignation from office of Canon Tim O’Leary, CC Mitchelstown as Vicar Forane of Fermoy deanery.

Bishop of Cloyne, Most Rev William Crean, has accepted the resignation from office of Very Rev Stephen O’Mahony, PP Churcthown and Liscarroll, and Very Rev John Broderick, PP Killeagh to come into effect on 14th September. He has also accepted the resignation of Canon Tim O’Leary, CC Mitchelstown as Vicar Forane of Fermoy deanery. This position will be taken by Very Rev Michael Fitzgerald, PP Mitchelstown (a Vicar Forane oversees a group of parishes known as a deanery. There are five deaneries in the diocese of Cloyne).

The following appointments will take effect from Saturday September 14th: Very Rev Monsignor Eamon Goold, PP Midleton to be Vicar General of the Diocese (a Vicar General assists the Bishop in the running of the diocese. He has the same administrative powers as the Bishop except in matters specifically reserved to the Bishop); Very Rev Donal O’Brien, PP Ballyvourney to be Episcopal Vicar for the Gaeltacht (an Episcopal Vicar is similar to a Vicar General except his authority is limited to a specific area of the diocese or group of people within it).

Rev Tim Hazelwood, CC Blarney to be PP Killeagh; Rev Anthony Sheehan, CC Doneraile to be CC Blarney; Rev Aidan Crowley, Adm Grenagh to be CC Doneraile; Rev Micheál Ó Loingsigh, CC Midleton to be PP Grenagh; Rev Tadhg O’Donovan, CC pro tem, Kildorrery to be CC Midleton; Rev Michael Lomasney, CC Cloghroe to be PP Kildorrery; Rev Tom McDermott, CC Churchtown to be CC Cloghroe; Rev Robin Morrissey, CC Cobh to be PP Churchtown-Liscarroll and Rev Liam Kelleher (Sabbatical Leave) to be CC Cobh.
