The inspection report issued by HIQA in the past week that showed a number of non-compliance issues at Conna Nursing Home, came in for criticism this week and was termed ‘unfair’ and ‘carrying a number of inaccuracies’ by a source close to the home.
“We appreciate they have a job to do, but it’s a pity HIQA don’t meet with the patients and their relatives when they carry out their inspection and get their views on the facility.
“For instance, the ‘person in charge’ was never absent as the report stated, and referring to medication as ‘the use of chemical restraints’ is surely over the top,” the source informed The Avondhu.
