Citroën launch new Citroën Ami in Ireland

Citroën Ami has now officially launched in Ireland with models available to test drive at selected dealerships nationwide. A true social phenomenon, Citroën Ami has changed the landscape of urban and peri-urban mobility.

Citroën Ami has been the first to address the challenges of micro-mobility and energy transition with an affordable, innovative electric vehicle, usable as both a two-seater or cargo – Ami is safe, and comfortable. Ami is a practical response to new mobility expectations for short journeys: enabling easier access to city centres, finding micro-mobility means for everyone, with real alternatives to scooters, bicycles, mopeds and public transportation at a reasonable cost.

Launching at a price of €9,990*, Ami introduces itself as the most affordable Citroën electric mobility solution available on the Irish market. An ultra-compact quadricycle, Citroën Ami is 2.41m long, 1.39m wide with a height of 1.52m, making it perfect for city journeys and making parking as easy as possible.

100% electric with a 5.5kWh battery, Citroën Ami benefits from zero CO2 emissions at tailpipe – boasting a smooth and silent drive. The battery provides a range of 75km, a daily distance far greater than the average distance travelled by urban and peri-urban dwellers.

It can charge in just 4 hours via the supplied type 2 charging adapter. The cable to charge Ami is neatly tucked away in the passenger door frame, making it convenient to charge on the go. Perfectly suited to a constantly on-the-go urban life, as a quadricycle Ami has a maximum speed of 45km/h, ideal for inner city driving.

Despite being classed as a quadricycle, Ami exceeds that of an AM licence type, therefore those driving Ami in Ireland will require a standard car licence or category B licence type. Ami will also require insurance and motor tax when taking to Irish roads.

Ami is a breakthrough mobility solution that tackles the city with style and comfort, in a colourful identity. At its launch, Ami is dressed in a new body colour, Night Sepia, a dark brown that lends presence to Ami and a whole new personality. This darker shade provides more depth and quality to Ami.

Rewriting the rulebook with its size, its shape and its novel graphic approach, Ami is bathed in light thanks to the large glass surface area of the windscreen, panoramic roof, side windows and rear window. Ami is flanked by rounded, manually adjustable exterior mirrors, true to its simplistic nature.

Meanwhile, the wide doors are completely identical on the right and left and open in the opposite direction – rear-hinged on the driver’s side to benefit from better on-board accessibility and increased comfort. The front and rear bumpers are also mirrored at the front and rear, allowing less costs when it comes to repair.

Citroën Ami launches with two versions, Ami Ami and Ami Peps. The Ami Ami version is the simplest expression of Ami, it features the personality of Ami and is primed for the three colour packs available as accessories – My Ami Grey, My Ami Blue and My Ami Orange.

These colour packs are made for self-installation and incorporate functional and decorative items such as wheel trims, exterior colour stickers, interior storage trays, mats, dashboard hook, door storage nets, interior separation net, smartphone clip, Citroën Switch to control a smartphone and DAT@MI dongle for connection to the MyCitroën app.

All three colour packs will be sold as accessories at €715 each and will be available from Citroën dealerships nationwide.

My Ami Peps is a playful dynamic version of Ami, available from €10,790*. This lively version offers all the benefits of Ami, while playfully resembling a small sports car. The Peps version features a very expressive front end with a black graphic band under the windshield animated by sharp yellow horizontal stickers, as well as black headlight surrounds.

Its dynamism is expressed through the rear spoiler, its four floral-design wheel covers with white decorations, the two custode stickers, and two lower door stickers. The number 2 sticker on the door is a nod to the number found on race cars. With My Ami Peps, all accessories found on the colour packs are pre-installed, making Ami Peps instantly ready for city adventures.

On the inside, the feeling of space is reinforced with the brightness of its interior thanks to the abundance of light provided by the large windscreen and panoramic sunroof. In a nod to Citroën’s history, the side windows open by manually tilting upwards like the original Citroën 2CV.

Inside the passenger compartment, the two seats layout offers a real sense of space and ease of movement to each occupant, especially in shoulder width, legroom and headroom. 2 passengers can therefore converse comfortably thanks to the 2 side-by-side seats. With this architecture, every nook and cranny are exploited to its fullest while storage space is cleverly distributed throughout the passenger compartment. In addition to a storage recess at the passenger’s feet, which can fit a cabin-sized suitcase, the designers have also created another storage area behind both seats.

Ami has a real advantage for its occupants; a level of protection greater than that offered by 2 or 3-wheeled vehicles and greater independence and comfort than public transportation. Its closed and heated passenger compartment provides protection and comfort on board when there is bad weather.

Despite Ami’s simple nature, convenient technology is at hand for users such as DAT@MI, a dongle that plugs directly into Ami and feeds information such as available range and mileage. For infotainment, Citroën offers “My Ami Play” interface that transforms the user’s smartphone into an entertainment dashboard with quick access to navigation, music, radio, or phone calls.

An extension of the MyCitroën application, the app is transformed once a user pairs their Ami to their phone. My Citroën Play offers a smart, connected, modern and useful experience allowing the user to customise their interface with a choice of four main supported applications which include live radio streaming, Waze, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Apple Maps, Google Maps and more.

The customisable applications are remotely controlled by the “Citroën Switch” button to be positioned on the steering wheel to keep eyes on the road and drive serenely, in complete safety. Citroën Switch is a Bluetooth button paired with the smartphone and is provided with optional colour packs and standard on Ami Peps models alongside the DAT@MI dongle.

Available as an after-sale modular kit, Citroën has now introduced My Cargo Kit. Preserving the second seat in Ami’s cabin, this new accessory enables an easy conversion between the possibility to accommodate a passenger, or transform Ami into a delivery vehicle – thus offering unmatched flexibility. This kit deploys very easily in a few movements.

A first part composed of 2 panels unfolds vertically to separate the driver’s area and the passenger area, thus preventing a package from tipping over to the driver’s side. A second part composed of 4 panels unfolds over the passenger seat, from the backrest to the footwell, to offer a practical loading surface protecting the seat.

Finally, an occluding net is available. It extends from the top of the seat back to the dashboard to hide the packages stored in the storage space. It allows loading up to 200 litres under the storage net, with a total volume of 340 litres throughout the vehicle. At any time, the three elements that make up this kit can be folded and placed behind the seat in a dedicated pouch to comfortably enjoy a journey with two people.

New Ami Ami is available to order from today at €9,990*, while New Ami Peps will be available at €10,790*.
