With the passing of the holidays, the laborious chore of taking down the Christmas decorations in Mitchelstown took place on Sunday and Monday last.

Mitchelstown Business Association chairman Sam Hyland and his team, carefully packed away the Christmas ornaments, that had glistened majestically for several weeks in the town centre.

The lights were carefully assembled onto specially-made racks, the tree in the square was cut down and the beautiful snowmen and decorations were put back into storage for another 12 months or so.

It isn't the most wonderful time of the year when you're taking ornaments down and unwrapping lights, but Sam and his team, which included many volunteers, got the job done with little fuss.

Once the decorations were down, Sam transported them to the special storage containers at his site at Samco Engineering Services Ltd in Kilshanny where they will be homed for the coming months.
