CHAMPIONSHIP DRAWS
The county intermediate hurling championship draw was made on Tuesday, 12 February, and this year it takes on an added incentive, in that the four teams that reach the co. semi-finals will play in the premier intermediate championship in 2014, along with four teams that will be relegated from this year’s senior championship. Blackrock are in group with Monaleen, Pallasgreen and Knockaderry, who they will play in the opening round on week ending 12 May, with round two pencilled in for week ending 16 June.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, 13 February the draws for the South championships were made. In senior hurling, Blackrock will play Garryspillane, while in the intermediate draw Blackrock will play Kilmallock. In the junior B hurling championship, Blackrock meet Effin in their opening game; in the junior football championship, Blackrock will meet Banogue in the opening round, while in U21 hurling, Blackrock will play Castletown Ballyagran in their opening game. In U21 football, Castletown Ballyagran will also be Blackrock’s opponents in the opening round. In the minor hurling draw, Sean Og Hanley’s (Blackrock/Glenroe) will play Knockainey in the opening round in defence of the divisional championship which they won last year.
