It was a case of 'here come the girls' in Conna Community Centre on Saturday night, May 17th, as this imposing venue hosted a fashion show in aid of Conna Community Childcare.

Set up 5 year ago Conna Community Childcare, it's a service that continues to grow and presently caters for over 100 children. As well as full time day care, it also provides breakfast and afternoon clubs.

Securing the services of high street shops is critical to the success of any fashion show and the hardworking organizing committee are extremely grateful to: Carma Boutique, Hickey's, Shaw's, Vanilla, Cummins Sports and Joe Murphy's men's wear (all Fermoy) for coming on board. Also supplying garments were: Wardrobe Boutique, Mitchelstown and Midleton outlets, The Arcade and Scarlett.

Liam Barry and his staff produced the fashion show programme which contained an extensive selection of advertisements that took in businesses in: Conna, Kilworth, Tallow, Fermoy, Coolagown, Ballynoe and Curraglass.

The event itself took an established fashion show format with locals pressed into service as male, female and child models. For most it was their catwalk début but all distinguished themselves.

As already mentioned this particular brand of fundraiser is the preserve of the fairer sex and they rarely fail to turn out in significant numbers.

Overall, those who helped put the fashion show together can feel well pleased with the financial return and the entertainment value served up - at night's end, the real winners were the children (6 months to 12-years-of-age) who benefit from the professional skills of staff at Conna Community Childcare.
