An entire community turned out in force on Thursday last, June 17 to bid farewell to Narnia, the local preschool, as community stalwart Mary Martin announced her retirement.
Mary, a native of Clonmult in Dungourney, came to Castlelyons in 1973, setting up Narnia Preschool originally in 1981.
Speaking with The Avondhu, Mary noted that at the time, she had a small family and money was scarce. Feeling she needed to do something, she decided to challenge herself and went back to college.
