With just days to go St Patrick’s Day 2013, Cappoquin is pulling out all the stops to ensure a memorable weekend of pageantry and entertainent for one and all.

Cappoquin Choral & Dramatic Society, which is behind the staging of the town’s annual parade, have this year been working in partnership with Cappoquin Civic Link and The Heritage Group in their bid to deliver on an action packed weekend.

Months of hard work and collaboration on the part of Heritage Group members will come to an end this Friday night, March 15th with the official launch of the book ‘A Stitch in Time’- a collection of stories paying tribute to the tailors who were two of the town’s most famous residents.

The launch takes place at Cappoquin Community Centre at  8.30pm and is open to all as the book will go on sale on the night. This will be complemented by an exhibition of the brothers’ life and work which will run througout the weekend at the parish hall featuring some fascinating memoribilia and is well worth a visit.

The action continues on Saturday with a farmers’ market in the square  in tandem with live music and dance from a gig rig on the main street of the town. Later on Saturday night, the local GAA club will play host to a race night at the Central Bar at 9pm.

With the dawn of Sunday and March 17, so too comes the fifth annual parade in Cappoquin marking the culmination of the weekend’s events for The Gathering 2013. Assembly at Twigbog from 12 noon, motorised entries please line up by the boathouse.

As this is very much an event for the local community, organisers ask that locals show their support by donning their green, white and gold and lining the streets in support.
