The Canavour Players are all set for the opening on this Thursday night in Ballinvreena Community Centre of Tommy Marren’s hilarious comedy, ‘It’s the Real McCoy’.

Set in the 1960s and it’s May Eve, the day before the start of the turf cutting. Madge Molloy (Noreen Quish) and her daughter Maura (Denise Carr) are getting themselves organised for the bog when the new curate, Fr McCoy (Derek Bullman) turns up, bringing with him news that will fuel the appetites of two nosey neighbours, Nora and Cora O’Hora, played by Mags O’Sullivan and Rachel Cunneen. Gossip is their staple diet and when another visitor, Tom Molloy (John Tobin) arrives, this really sets the cat among the pigeons. Whatever about the pigeons, it does little to calm the nerves of Martin - the local postman (T J Carr) who also happens to be Maura’s boyfriend.

‘It’s The Real McCoy', directed by Willie Carr, promises unfettered fun for young and old. It runs from this Thursday, Jan 30 to Sunday, February 3 and again from February 6-10. Tickets can be pre-booked between 5-8pm from the Tuesdays before each weekend run on 085-2813477.
