A request to put road markings in place at Kilbarry Cross and to improve visibility on the Fermoy to Ballyduff Road was made at the recent meeting of the Fermoy Electoral Area committee of Cork County Council.

Cllr Noel McCarthy tabled a motion asking for the work to be done but he was told by senior engineer Brendan O'Gorman that the existing road surface there meant any road lining put down would be washed away almost immediately due to road run-off and the open texture of the road.

He pointed out that there is an unobstructed yield sign in place on the local secondary route and said that visibility looking back towards Clondulane would be improved by the cutting back of vegetation. That work has been sanctioned, he told members.
