Calendar proceeds help feed children in Africa

For the 4th year in a row, Fr Liam Kelleher (Cobh) has produced a lovely colourful calendar and the proceeds go to feed hungry children in Mali, West Africa – one of the poorest countries in the world.

When Fr Liam studied for a year in Berkeley in California in 2013, he met up with Fr John Asanyire, a member of the order of African missionaries.

When Fr John returned to Africa he was posted to Mali in West Africa, one of the poorest countries in the world.

At least 7,000 children were hungry and bordering on starvation. He appealed for help to Fr Liam who responded and with very generous donations, the 7,000 children were fed for 6 weeks.

Since that appeal 4 years ago, Fr Liam with generous support from the calendar sales, has sent money directly to Fr John, who wrote a lovely note of thanks for the recent donation of €1,500 (although €40 of that was taken for administration fees).

The calendars are available at The Avondhu offices in Mitchelstown and Fermoy, digital copies are available by contacting Fr Liam on What's App or email liamkelleher44@gmail.com
