The Paris Marathon has been checked off the list as one local man’s efforts to raise funds for Cork University Maternity Hospital (CUMH) has now seen over €32,000 raised for the cause.
“For me, the most important thing all along was raising money for them and giving back. When I first said I would do it back in December, early January, I didn’t ever think in my wildest dreams that we would be able to raise this kind of money for them,” CJ McCarthy said.
On April 2, despite the bad weather, ongoing pension strikes in Paris, and being ill, CJ McCarthy completed the Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris in 4 hours and 27 minutes, and in the process, raised vital funds for a neonatal sanctum and parents room at CUMH.
