BYD extends EV & Hybrid model range with two new arrivals: BYD ATTO 3 EVO & BYD ATTO 2 Super Hybrid

Motor Distributors Limited has added to its eight-strong BYD model range which is available through its nationwide network of 17 dealers. Making its debut is the all-new BYD ATTO 2 Super Hybrid, the fourth BYD hybrid to launch in Ireland. Joining it is the all-electric BYD ATTO 3 EVO, a comprehensive update of the model that introduced the BYD brand to many Irish motorists when it arrived here just three years ago.

In the ATTO 2 Super Hybrid, two competitively priced models ‘Active’ and ‘Boost’ are offered at €32,990 and €35,990 respectively. As with previous models, a generous level of standard equipment continues to be offered, with optional extras available within a typically competitive pricing structure.

Poised to benefit from the growing interest in hybrid technology, proven by the demand for earlier introductions equipped with BYD’s Super DM (Dual Mode) hybrid technology, the BYD ATTO 2 delivers what BYD claims is ‘class-leading fuel efficiency’. That equates to a combined WLTP range up to 1,000kms on a weighted fuel consumption figure of only 1.8-litres /100km – a return likely to go a long way towards slashing an owner’s running costs.

Delivering SUV style in a compact form (4,330mm long, 1,830mm wide, 1,675mm tall with space-boosting 2,620mm wheelbase), the BYD ATTO 2 delivers battery capacities up to 18.0KWh, power up to 156kW,  0-100km/h acceleration of 7.5 secs, and electric-only range up to 90km.

BYD ATTO 3 EVO

The BYD ATTO 3 EVO arrives in two model variants:  a rear-wheel drive ‘Design’ version, which comes on the market at €40,530 and an impressively powered, ‘Excellence’ version equipped with permanent all-wheel drive at €43,985.

The sixth all-electric BYD model introduced here, the BYD ATTO 3 EVO has an attractive new appearance with dimensions that mirror those of its predecessor.

Built on the latest version of BYD’s self-developed e-Platform 3.0, the ATTO 3 EVO is said by the manufacturer to offer substantial technical gains, over not only the original ATTO 3, but also the wider family-EV market. Switching from a solely front-wheel-drive configuration to a choice of either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, the rear suspension also moves from a four-link layout to an even more sophisticated five-link system for improved dynamics.

Geared to meet the motoring needs of a broad spectrum of owners, new are its increased power, larger battery with longer range (510kms), and more rapid charging (220kW) whereby 10-80% power can be restored in just 25 minutes.

As expected from BYD, both models are generously equipped as standard. In the mix are features such as ambient cabin lighting, electrically adjustable heated front seats, a panoramic sunroof with electric sunshade, infotainment with 15.6-inch touchscreen, integrated Google Play Store, Maps, and Driver Assistance functions. Other features include parking sensors front and rear, 360° surround-view camera, extensive safety and driver-assistance systems, and a vehicle-to-load feature to power and charges external devices.

Load capacity is a larger 490-litres boot expandable to 1,360-litres, with a new 101-litre ‘frunk’ (front trunk) and numerous interior ‘pack-away’ storage places. Towing capacity is 1500kg (braked) and BYD’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, can power external devices at up to 3kW. A six-years manufacturer’s vehicle and eight years or 250,000km battery warranty applies.

With BYD now firmly positioned in the upper-ranks of Ireland’s electric and hybrid-electric sales league, BYD National Sales Manager, Vicky Reilly welcomed the new model introductions: “Since its arrival in 2023, the ATTO 3 has been a popular choice with customers seeking a comfortable, high-quality family SUV with the practicality to cope with everyday life. The new ATTO 3 EVO builds on that foundation adding additional features, more power, a bigger battery, longer range, faster charging and best-in-class performance.

“Bringing BYD’s Super DM (Dual Mode) hybrid technology to the compact-SUV segment, the BYD ATTO 2 Super Hybrid gives motorists the freedom to make a confident step towards pure-electric motoring while enjoying the reassurance of hybrid backup – mixing the EV driving experience, response and refinement with huge real-world combined range,” she added.
