It’s been a very busy few weeks on the snooker scene for the members of Fermoy CMWS club.

The last few weeks have been a very busy period on the snooker scene for our members.

The qualifying leagues for the Cork Snooker League reached its climax and with a late surge of victories over Douglas twice and Shooters, Cork twice, we managed to secure 4th place and a place in the semi-final of the Cork leagues. Well done to the A team of Daithi Whelan, Alan Cleary, Tom Aherne, Derek Murphy, Robbie Donavan and Mick Casey.

The semi-final draw is AOH v Crucible, Youghal A v Fermoy A. These ties to be played in January 2014.

CORK U19 CHAMPIONSHIP

We had six of our members travel to Cork for the U19 championship recently. It was the first competitive outing for these players and they acquitted themselves well with James Devonshire making the quarter-finals and for good measure winning the high break prize with a break of 49.

The six players who travelled were James Devonshire, Jack Dorgan, Conor Clancy, Kevin Hegarty, Sean Hamlin and Robert Broderick. With a bit more experience these lads will be to the forefront of many tournaments to come.

Last but not least one of our senior players, Robbie Donavan, travelled to a national intermediate tournament last Saturday and did the club proud.

After a long break from snooker Robbie has been practicing very hard for the last few months and on Saturday reached the semi-finals, a magnificent achievement after being so long away from the game.
