Blackwater Honey, a family-run Cork business founded in 2020 by brothers Andrew and John Shinnick, shone at the Golden Forks Awards held at the Battersea Arts Centre, London, on Tuesday, 9th September.
Represented on the night by John and his wife Denise, the company was nominated for the Golden Fork from Ireland after their honey earned the coveted Great Taste 3-star award. Out of 14,340 products from 3,200 companies across 110 countries, only 1.9% achieved this rating. Blackwater Honey reached the final 33 products worldwide.
Although the Golden Fork itself went to Green Pastures of Donegal, the local company proudly brought home the ‘People’s Choice’ Award, as well as securing a 2-star award for their Heather honey.
“We are both delighted to share this recognition, which means so much to a small family business like ours,” said CEO, Andrew Shinnick.
Blackwater Honey is available locally at Hanna’s Café, Fermoy and Dano’s Centra, Mallow. For more info see www.blackwaterhoney.ie or their social media pages.
