Blackwater Distillery set to brew up ‘The Spirit of West Waterford’

A newly established distillery based in Cappoquin, County Waterford is showing encouraging and ambitious signs towards growing its range of spirits, now looking to create a unique limited edition bottled spirit for market.

The recently established Cappoquin-based Blackwater Distillery has teamed up with the Dungarvan Brewing Company for an ambitious new project. Using 800 litres of oatmeal stout from Dungarvan, Blackwater Distillery will create a unique bottled spirit, the first time such a project has ever been done in Ireland.

The beer is currently fermenting in Dungarvan and next week will travel up the road to Cappoquin, where the oatmeal stout will be turned into 100 litres of spirit. Thereafter, it will ....
