As INDIE23 brought the crowds to Mitchelstown once more over the August Bank Holiday weekend, organisers and businesspeople alike enjoyed a successful weekend, with a horrendous Friday evening weather-wise, giving way to sun and good vibes throughout the music filled weekend.
Sunday was particularly busy in town, with at least one off-licence seeing queues outside, while people stocked up for the remainder of the bank holiday.
This year, the return of the Busking Festival on Saturday in town meant a double boost for music-lovers. The closure of Lower Cork Street for several hours allowed fans to amble freely, and extend the festival atmosphere down from Deer Farm into the town centre.
Speaking on behalf of the Mitchelstown Business Association, chair Claudia Matassa said that the Indiependence Music Festival brought an unmistakeable economic boost to the town, not least due to people dropping people to the festival and staying to enjoy a coffee or do some shopping while they were in the area.
