The prestigious Best Community and Sustainability Award for 2026 at this year’s SuperValu National Conference was recently awarded to Riordan’s SuperValu Fermoy.

In what was a highly competitive category, the store was shortlisted alongside other finalist stores from around the country at the event staged in late February at The Great Southern Hotel, Killarney, Co. Kerry. Riordan’s SuperValu Fermoy stood out for its strong leadership in community engagement and its ongoing commitment to sustainable retail practices. As part of SuperValu’s network of independent retail partners, the store reflects the combination of local ownership, community focus and national-scale support that continues to set SuperValu apart in Irish retail.

The award recognises the outstanding work undertaken by the team at the Fermoy store across key areas including community involvement, responsible business practices and environmental awareness. The store was particularly commended for the meaningful role it plays within Fermoy — supporting local clubs, charities and organisations, while also embedding sustainability into its day-to-day operations.
