Ben Cahill, a young man from Ballincollig, is about to cycle a 258k journey this coming weekend, to raise funds for the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.
The 18 year old’s charity event is in memory of his late grandfather Seán O’Mahony, a well-known and liked figure who lived in Fermoy all of his life, until his passing in 2018.
The decision to set up this fundraising effort came to Ben when the Leaving Certificate examinations were recently cancelled.
With time on his hands, he set up a page on the crowdfunding website GoFundMe, scheduled a three-day stretch in which he would aim to cycle the planned distance and started preparing.
