Known locally as 'Barry's Yard', a 1.5-acre commercial site in Fermoy has been put up for private sale by Sherry Fitzgerald.

The site, synomous with Fermoy town, has been idle since the Integrated Timber Engineering Company, owned by the McMahon Group, closed in September 2004, with the loss of 27 jobs. Sherry Fitzgerald describes the site as 'a prime commercial property within the town'.

Local revolutionary figure Liam Lynch, worked in the yard for a spell before he later became the commanding general of the Irish Republican Army during the Irish Civil War.
